Located on the Shiawassee River, and with an onsite swimming lake that has a Wibit water park and 1000 feet of beach, Walnut Hills is the flagship location for GatherGrounds Resorts. It offers all the modern amenities and attractions that campers expect along with the unique nature elements like going on tube or kayak floats down the Shiawassee. Walnut Hills has been fully renovated since GatherGrounds took the property over in 2022 with full hookups, 50 amp electric, and a renovated bath house that rivals any campground in the state!

When is your open season?

Short term camping at The Oaks Campground managed by GatherGrounds Resorts runs from May 1st to September 30th. However, we have an extended season for our seasonal sites. For folks renting a seasonal site, they will have access to all that the campground offers from May 1st, 2026 to October 20th, 2026. Pending some discussions with the state of Michigan, we may offer winter camping over the offseason an optional add on that seasonal campers can opt in for, but is not a requirement.

What are your seasonal rates?

Seasonal Site Rates at The Oaks:
Our 2026 seasonal site availability ranges from $2,100 to $3,200 per season, with a limited number of waterfront or larger sites being on the higher end of the range. The Oaks offers a relaxed, spacious seasonal site setting with ongoing improvements and enhancements as part of its integration into the GatherGrounds family of properties for the 2026 camping season.
