What a typical Labor Day weekend looks like

Here’s how last season’s Labor Day weekend ran.

Friday and Saturday: food trucks

Food trucks come in on Friday and Saturday, so two of the weekend’s dinners are covered. Trucks rotate through the summer, so the menu is rarely the same twice. Check the events page for this year’s lineup, or call the office to confirm on the day.

Saturday: paint and sip

At 1 PM on Saturday, grown-ups gather for a paint and sip. Last season’s theme was winter, a fun switch on a warm late-summer afternoon. It’s a relaxed hour with other campers while the kids are at the beach or the Kangaroo Jumper.

Sunday: craft, cornhole and parade

  • Noon kids’ craft (last season, designing aprons for the upcoming chili cook-off)
  • 2 PM cornhole tournament
  • 6:30 PM golf cart parade

Sunday is the busiest day of the weekend, with families who arrived Friday and Saturday all on site. Decorate your cart early so you’re ready to line up.

The Wibit’s last weekend

The Wibit floating water park closes for the season after Labor Day, so this is the last chance to use it until next summer. It’s open Thursday through Sunday and on the holiday Monday. Wristbands apply on most days; see the rates page. The beach stays open for swimming.

Day trips nearby

Some families build in an afternoon away from camp. Nelson Ledges State Park is about 10 minutes away, Garrettsville has local restaurants and a vintage downtown along the river, and the Mahoning River is a favorite for floating.

Book early, or try the weekends around it

Labor Day fills early, so book ahead. Holiday weekends are priced higher than ordinary weekends. What comes after Labor Day

The season runs until October 20. The Saturday after Labor Day brings the chili cook-off, and our Halloween weekend follows at the end of September. Good to know before you come

  • Quiet hours run 11 PM to 8 AM, and golf carts park for the night at dark.
  • Kids and bikes are back at their site by dusk.
  • Outside firewood must be USDA-certified; the store sells local, inspected firewood, and we can deliver it to your site.
  • Dogs stay on a 6-foot leash except in the dog park, and stay off the beach.

Getting to Ridge Ranch

Ridge Ranch is in Newton Falls, just off I-80 and the Ohio Turnpike. It’s about 40 minutes from Youngstown, under an hour from Akron, about an hour and 15 minutes from Cleveland and about an hour and 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. There’s no check-in line: we collect your license plate when you book, and the gate opens for you when you arrive.
