Looking for an inflatable water park in Ohio? Ridge Ranch Campground in Newton Falls has a Wibit floating water park anchored in the spring-fed swimming area of its 17-acre lake. It’s open Thursday through Sunday in summer for kids 7 and up and for grown-ups too, and campers get free access on Thursdays.
What is the Wibit?
A Wibit is a floating inflatable water park: connected pieces anchored on the water that you climb, balance on, slide off and jump from. Kids love it, and you’ll see plenty of parents and grandparents out there too. Ridge Ranch installed its Wibit for the 2026 season, in the spot where an old swim raft used to sit.
Where is it, and how deep is the water?
The Wibit sits in the lake’s swimming area, which was dredged to 8 to 10 feet deep through most of it. Several springs seep up through the shale bedrock, which keeps the water cool on hot days and helps keep algae down. A land bridge separates the swimming area from the main lake. Right beside it is the new sand beach, with a shallow area for younger kids that deepens farther out.
How the Wibit is anchored
It takes a lot to keep a floating water park in place. The Wibit is held by 42 concrete anchors on the lake bottom, about 800 pounds each, with the pieces strapped to them by large underwater bungees. Each spring a dive crew attaches the inflated pieces, and each fall the pieces come off the lake to be washed and conditioned for winter storage.
When is the water park open?
- Thursday through Sunday in season, plus holiday Mondays.
- Free for registered campers on Thursdays.
- A wristband fee applies on other days, with one-hour and all-day options. Campers pay less than day visitors. Current prices are on the Ridge Ranch rates page.
- The last day is Labor Day. The Wibit closes after that weekend and returns the next season.
Water park rules
- Ages 7 and up.
- Kids under 16 need a parent present at the water park.
- Everyone wears a life jacket, and only campground-provided jackets are allowed. They are designed by Wibit so they won’t snag on the pieces.
- A trained monitor is on duty to check wristbands, fit life jackets and keep an eye on the rules. The monitor is not a lifeguard, so parents supervise their own kids.
- Check in at the camp store first: get your wristband, sign the waiver and watch a short safety video.
Campgrounds with water parks in Ohio: why the Wibit has a fee
Campgrounds that include a water park in the site rate usually have a small one, and every guest pays for it whether they use it or not. A large floating water park costs a lot to run every year, from anchoring and dive crews to staffing, cleaning and winter care. Charging a wristband fee on busy days keeps site rates lower for everyone, including guests who never go on it, and the free Thursday gives campers a way to enjoy it at no extra cost.
Can day visitors use the Wibit?
Yes. Day visitors can buy a beach day pass and add a Wibit wristband. Plan to arrive early on hot weekends: there are some lounge chairs at the beach, but they go fast, so bring your own chairs and an umbrella. A shaded picnic area between the pavilion and the beach is a good spot to watch the kids.
More for kids who are under 7
Younger kids can still have a big day: the shallow beach area, the free Kangaroo Jumper, the new playground by the lake and the arcade in the store.
Inflatable water park questions
Can I wear my own life jacket?
No. Everyone on the Wibit wears one of our campground-provided jackets, which are made so they won’t catch on the pieces.
Is there a lifeguard?
No. A Wibit monitor is on duty, but parents are responsible for supervising their children. Kids under 16 need a parent present.
Is the Wibit open in September?
No. The last day is Labor Day.
Is the water park included with a seasonal site?
No. It is pay-per-use so guests who don’t use it aren’t paying for it in their rate.
How do I check current days and prices?
See the Ridge Ranch rates page or call the office at (330) 898-8080.
